Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'

This week in La La land…

It was a pretty eventful week! Since I was off on Monday one of my friends invited me to see her friends band play at The Dragonfly. It was a really cool venue, so I hope to go back there soon.

:(

Firestone to the rescue!

So Friday I got a flat tire yikes! Luckily my dad came to the rescue and by Saturday I was off to Firestone to get a new tire put on. Friday I also received a package from my dad and stepmom with a couple of cool books! The list one is perfect because I’m addicted to making lists! I skimmed through it and it looks awesome! Thanks Sher!!!

Sunday rituals... blogging, Not working out, being lazy!

So Saturday while I was waiting for my new tire I walked across the street to a good will store and took a gander around. I found some pretty neat things and since I’ve actually been wanting to go thrifting lately it was really perfect!

Can't wait to wear them!!!!

I got some pretty rad long sleeve 80’s/90’s shirts that I can totally lounge or work out in! I LOOOVE the blue one, it’s really 80’s and the sleeves are ginormous! Then I found this cool huge grandpa sweater! I can’t wait to wear it!

Scott Mellis

Saturday night a colleague of mine invited me to Hotel CafĂ© to see her artist Scott Mellis play! So, I invited Shannon to come along with me and make a fun night out of it. Scott’s from Australia and just flew in on Thursday so it’s pretty impressive that he’s playing a show already.

Well It’s Sunday again! Oscar Sunday! So I have no plans but to lounge around all day and watch the red carpet! Can’t wait to see the dresses! Shannon’s cooking dinner today.

What’s on the menu?

A Pasta with bacon and chard! Hmmm sounds interesting!

I’ll post pictures later!

Enjoy your week!

A Toast To Long Weekends

Lots to blog about this weekend. For starters, I went out to brunch with a friend/colleague! We went to this place called Sweet Butter in the San Fernando Valley! It was such a cute place! I wish I could have taken a million pictures of this place/ I want to steal all their decorating ideas!

I wish I would have taken a picture of my meal, I got a nutella sandwich and it was DELICIOUS!
Afterward we went back to their house and listened to some music!

I really want that poster of Charlie Chaplin on the far right!

This weekend I also decided to walk down Hollywood Blvd. by the Chinese theater and see all the souvenirs and some of the "Hollywood Stars Walk Of Fame" very cool!
Hollywoodland... (What The Hollywood Sign originally read)
Bette Midler... I have a huge place in my heart for her! God I love her :)
MERYL! Honestly, who doesn't love Meryl?
It was very crowded. I wasn't there very long because I know my roommate wants to go too and this weekend she's away in San Diego.
Darth Vader, honestly, not as cute as the kid in the car commercial
"Do you believe in life after loooove"
Love me some Travolta!

Last on the list was a spontaneous trip to In N Out Burger for some noms!
Finally I took a moment before devouring it to take some pictures!

yum!
What's this? A Double-Double... where's the bun? It's Protein style, No bun, wrapped in Lettuce! a slightly healthier option, but really it's delicious wrapped in lettuce!

More to come!

Boppin' Around

The Well Reds

This week was a little more exciting than usual, besides that it rained and the weather’s been a bit crappy lately. This week I was invited to attend a showcase at the Roxy with a co-worker/friend of one of my bosses. It was the first time I’ve been to the Roxy so obviously I had to blog about it! We went to hear a band called The Well Reds and stayed for the band after them called Bop Skizzum, a funk group with a female singer and a horn section… pretty rad!

Bop Skizzum

Monday’s Presidents day and I am off work so I’ve been uber excited for this long weekend to do some fun and interesting things. So keep a lookout for more blog posts soon! In the meantime, here are some fun and random pictures I’ve taken this week!

Enjoy!

View of Downtown from my bosses office

A friendly snail!

Some kid spent a lot of time and dedication on this sand castle in our park!

Slappa-Da-Bass

The Den Of Hollywood

The week was pretty average, I’m still enjoying my internships and building relationships at both which is great! Friday I saw Singing In The Rain for the first time, in my film class. I loved it!

This weekend Elliot’s brother visited so we went out to The Den Of Hollywood, In West Hollywood Saturday night. I had heard about it and decided a few of us should go... Good thing we did, because It was great! They make their own buns, ground their own meat, and cut their own fries. It was yummy and fresh and a good price!

I got the pulled pork!

Sunday We relaxed a little, It was my week to cook Sunday dinner so I made Tortilla Soup! It was a lot of work, but it paid off in the end. It’s extremely healthy and full of things that your tummy will thank you for! Good thing, because Elliot has a cold this week.

YUM!

After dinner I cut up a watermelon and we watched The Grammy’s! They’re still on so I can’t make any comment.

I hope everyone in the Mid-west or East Coast are enjoying their warmer weather this week!

Being Lazy Cake

Another standard week at work. Nothing too exciting or crazy. We had class Wednesday night at a Korean restaurant in Korea town! I also visited the 99 cent store this week which I kind of fell in love with, I bought some batman socks!

This weekend was pretty relaxed, Shannon’s just getting over a cold so we took it easy. We went to the Grove to do some shopping and walking around, and later a couple of us headed to the Farmers Market for a night out.

Sunday we cleaned, cooked and chilled out.

I wish I took more pictures this week, but I just have a couple from the road.

Superbowl Sunday today! I’m excited for the commercials at least!

Tonight Shannon’s cooking dinner and I’m baking strawberry shortcake, I’ll post pictures later.

Sorry this was a boring blog post, I promise to have an interesting one next time!

Eat A Cupcake, Hike A Hill, Take A Nap!

So my first week of work has come and gone, and I have to say, it’s a lot more draining than I thought. Monday (besides feeling like I got hit by a bus) after work I took a trip over to Sprinkles Cupcakes to pick up a dozen cupcakes for some of us interns! It was such a treat and truly a gift that kept giving this week!YUM
Cupcakes!
Red Velvet, Lemon, Coconut, Vanilla, Choc. Banana, Choc. Banana, Black & White, Milk Choc, Cin. Sugar, Choc. Marshmallow, Mocha, German Dark Cho.
Katy's cupcake Face

Things got so much better on Tuesday and the rest of the week when I knew what to expect. It’s only been a week but I already feel like I’ve learned so much from both of my internships. Wednesday I actually had enough energy to cook a real meal to eat for dinner instead of pizza and chips.

I’ve been getting this particular question lately from family and friends… “are you the girl that does coffee runs? Or are you doing interesting things at your internship?”

I have not once been sent out to get coffee or lunch and I don’t think I will be.

One of my internships has been giving me CD’s DVD’s and Movie posters this week which is AWESOME! Now I can decorate my temporary apartment with free movie posters and then recycle them when I leave!

Driving to the sign

So Saturday Shannon and I hiked Mt. Lee to the Hollywood sign! So here is a series of pictures of the sign as we got closer and closer. Also, the view during the hike was amazing, which definitely kept us going when the "going got rough".

Shannon and our first photo op. on the trail!
Downtown, I've heard you get good pictures of the skyline the day after it rains. I'll keep that in mind!
We're so close!
Victory!!!
Yay to being a tourist!

"Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego"

So besides the fact that I had my first day last Thursday

This weekend I was invited by my roommate to take a trip to San Diego to visit her sisters!

Saturday we went to the San Diego Zoo which I’ve heard is one of the largest and most progressive zoo’s in the world. It was so much fun! Most of the animals were really friendly so I took a bazillion pictures.

Lounging
Exhausted
Elephants
Meerkats
"Pink Shlamingo!"
Can't be bothered

Later on we hit up Old Town San Diego, which is considered the "birthplace" of California. San Diego is the site of the first permanent Spanish settlement in California. We stopped for appetizers and drinks at this Mexican place, then walked around until dinner which was sushi! Delicious delicious sushi! We finished the night back at home watching Indiana Jones 1 & 2.

Sunday we headed out to El Coronado with the dog, a massive Great Dane named Nantucket. We spent a fair amount of time outside walking and enjoying the warm weather, took the dog to the dog beach for a while and then headed home for the football games.

As exciting as that may seem…..I was reading my Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets book

So the weekend was a success and the best part is it’s a really nice getaway when I start to get rid of the city and want a homier vibe.

The worst part of the weekend was that I realized from now on I will only get to see the light of day from Friday-Sunday. I wish I could just be in the sun all day everyday.
